Floris UMC’s Response to Food Scarcity – Floris UMC is responding to the food scarcity challenge caused by COVID-19 in several ways. She Believes in Me, one of our ministry partners, is using part of our Fellowship Hall as a safe space to collect and sort their food donations. Grace Ministries is also packaging and sorting food in the Fellowship Hall allowing for safe practices as they prepare for the upcoming May distribution. Floris is currently supplying 150 Help Hungry Kids food packs per week to Hutchison Elementary School. Thank you for your food donations. We are accepting donations for Help Hungry Kids daily, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., in the blue bins under the upper lot awning. Find a list of HHK specific food items requested here:
COVID-19 Relief Fund Update – As of this week, you have donated more than $65,000 to the COVID-19 Relief Fund. We are currently using these funds to purchase food from the Capital Area Food Bank to supply our food scarcity ministries, support families in our church with rent, mortgage and utility payments and help people in our community who are in need through our community partners. Thank you for your amazing generosity and the ways you are caring for your community and each other.
Welcome Sarah Casey, Interim Serve Ministries Director – Sarah is a new part-time staff member who will direct Serve Ministries. She is replacing Mike Fee, who made a shift and is our new Student Ministries Director. Sarah was a prior intern at Floris UMC, and we want to welcome her to our staff.
