On September 7, 13 volunteers from around the world demonstrated the power of digital money by passing one unit of the cryptocurrency Nano around the entire globe, across 11 countries on 6 continents – from San Francisco (US) to New Jersey (US), Montreal (Canada), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Accra (Ghana), Leeds (UK), Cologne (Germany), Tehran (Iran), Singapore, Quezon City (Philippines), Izumo (Japan), Melbourne (Australia), Vancouver (Canada) and finally back to San Francisco.
What makes this achievement impressive is that we managed to do so in the record time of just 140 seconds, and without paying a single penny in transaction fees. Nano is quite environmental-friendly too! The total energy usage of all 13 transactions is equivalent to that of a 10W LED light bulb for just 2.5 minutes.
As far as we know, this is the first time that such a project has been attempted successfully.
WHAT IS NANO:
Nano is a decentralized, secure, fee-less, and eco-friendly digital currency focused on addressing the inefficiencies present in existing financial systems and other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
Uniquely designed to provide simple peer-to-peer transfer of value, Nano empowers individuals with the most efficient and accessible digital money possible, connecting them to the global economy with minimal impact.
Nano is what a digital currency should be – instant with no fees, no waiting (instant payments). This is what user-friendly and easy-to-use digital money looks like.
