Good morning. For those that do not know me – My name is Sarah Benken and I am the founder and CEO of KNOW Tribe. Many of you have been seeing me in our public Facebook group that I created at the onset of COVID to provide support and resources to women as we navigate these uncertain times.
Well today, I am here for a different reason.
As the leader of a community, in which nearly 5000 women are connected, and the leader to thousands of women business owners, leaders, and executives, I thought it was important for me to come on and speak about the sadness filling our country today.
If you are like me, you spent the week and weekend watching in sadness. Words like systematic racism, injustice, and Black Lives Matter filled my feeds. And then came rioting and fighting, burning buildings, vandalism, and chaos. Ladies – enough is enough. And today, I want to make sure that every single person that catches this Live knows that I stand with you. People of color – My community stands with you. It has to stop, and we have to do something NOW and for the days to come.
When I started KNOW nearly 3 years ago, I was intentional in ensuring ALL women would be represented. That all colors, backgrounds, ages, industries would be part of our community. We have intentionally sought out dynamic women of color to serve with us. We have intentionally filled our Books with beautiful women from all walks of like. It has always been our goal showcase ALL women and that is why we intentionally put them on our social feeds, highlight them beyond the pages of our book and give them a voice on our stages. Integration and Diversity is not new to us at KNOW. It is my heart as a human and as the leader of this community – to make a way for ALL women. It is in our guiding principles and seen throughout our fiber. At KNOW, we are united by our differences.
But you know what, early this year I still did not think that we were doing enough. I wanted more – so I pulled together a team of 7 high-caliber educated and successful women to form an advisory group to ensure we are working to our fullest efforts. Our focus is diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Over the next few days, you will meet and hear from the members of our diversity team, who have been working in the background for the last few months to establish formal guidelines for our brand and our community. Our mission is to ensure that EVERY voice Is heard and there is an exit door for anyone who does not stand with us.
As a mom, partner, and business owner – my heart is exploding for the nation. If you do not know what to do, I encourage you to start by having conversations at the kitchen table, volunteer in your local community and support minority owned businesses, show up and speak up.
If you have any questions about KNOW Tribe, our efforts or need to chat, feel free to reach out to us. Thank you
